1 Year Anniversary Celebration Benefitting Sunshine on a Ranney Day!

We are excited to announce that on May 14, 2022 Madrid Spanish Taverna is celebrating our One Year Anniversary! Opening Madrid during the pandemic has been a challenge to say the least, but we are grateful for the support from our community on a very successful first year!

For our anniversary, we are hosting an outdoor Le Feria themed fiesta. La Feria is an annual festival in Spain and southern France, characterized by bullfights, flamenco dancers, bodegas (outdoor bars or with festive live music). Don’t worry, no bullfights for this fiesta!

In addition to the La Feria, we have teamed up with the amazing non-profit organization, Sunshine on a Ranney Day. Sunshine on a Ranney Day is a nonprofit organization that reimagines and builds custom rooms for children with special needs. Through partnerships and donors, they provide no cost wheelchair accessible bathrooms, dream bedrooms and in-home therapy rooms. We are pleased to announce that proceeds from the event will go toward helping SOARD achieve their goals.

LA FERIA SCHEDULE

Roving fiesta performers all day

Kids activities, such as crafts and games, all day

1:00 p.m.  Doors open

2:00 -2:30 p.m.  Cooking/Spanish cuisine demonstration

2:30 – 3:30 p.m.  Class! Learn to dance and sing sevillanas. As a bonus, we also are ready to teach bulerías, tangos, and rumba. Then, join the roving fiesta if you feel the duende, or join the sevillanas dancing later in the evening.

3:30 – 4:00 p.m.  Performance on the big stage – live flamenco dance and music performed by aficionados and professionals

4:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Class! Learn to dance and sing sevillanas and more. Then, join the roving fiesta if you feel the duende, or join the sevillanas dancing later in the evening.

5:00 – 5:30 p.m.  Performance on the big stage – live flamenco dance and music performed by aficionados and professionals

5:30 -6:00 p.m.  Cooking/Spanish cuisine demonstration

6:00 – 6:30 p.m.  Pasarela and traje de flamenca costume contest

6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  Sevillanas dancing and live flamenco music
